(NewsNation) — Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk called on his followers to “cancel Netflix for the health of your kids,” escalating his criticism of the streaming giant over what he alleges is a pro-transgender agenda.
Musk criticized the animated series “Dead End Paranormal Park,” which features a trans teen protagonist, and its British creator, Hamish Steele, on Tuesday. His criticism appears to be linked to a post on the social platform X, which is owned by Musk, allegedly made by Steele in response to a message from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer mourning the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. NewsNation has not verified Steele’s remarks, as his X account is now private.
Musk’s subsequent posts have generated thousands of supportive responses, including calls echoing his directive to cancel Netflix subscriptions. He reposted statements accusing the platform of pushing “trans ideology” on children, along with screenshots of Netflix’s cancellation page. Musk said Tuesday he had already canceled his own subscription.

The billionaire, whose 21-year-old daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson is transgender, has frequently expressed anti-trans views in interviews and online, according to Business Insider. In a 2024 conversation with psychologist Jordan Peterson, Musk said the “woke mind virus” had “killed” his relationship with Wilson, the outlet reported. Wilson has publicly spoken out against her father’s views.
Netflix, which previously faced boycott campaigns in 2021 over Dave Chappelle’s stand-up special, which included jokes about trans people and was criticized as transphobic.
It’s unclear whether Musk’s call to action will affect the company’s subscriber numbers or profits. Netflix shares slipped roughly 2% on Wednesday.
