(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have inked a “tech prosperity deal” securing billions in investments for their countries, the pair announced Thursday.

“We’re taking the next logical step with a historic agreement on science and technology partnerships,” Trump said. “And this will create new government, academic and private sector cooperation in areas such as AI, which is taking over the world.”

Starmer said the deal will bring around 15,000 jobs to the United Kingdom and boost investment in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and nuclear energy.

The agreement, which tops $300 billion, is expected to cement U.S. investment in Britain’s AI sector and deploy modular nuclear reactors across the U.K., which will generate energy for millions of homes and businesses, according to Trump.

Thursday’s deal is the biggest “of its kind in British history by a country mile,” Starmer said.

Starmer and Trump began bilateral talks at Chequers, Starmer’s country residence, on Thursday, marking the second day of Trump’s historic second state visit — a first for a U.S. president. He spent Wednesday at Windsor Castle with the reigning monarch, King Charles III, and his wife, Queen Camilla, for a day of pageantry.

Trump disagrees with Starmer on Palestinian state

Starmer on Thursday doubled down on his decision to recognize a Palestinian state, describing the situation in Gaza as “intolerable.”

“I have a disagreement with the prime minister on that score,” Trump said. “One of our few disagreements, actually.

Though the pair’s views differ on Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip, Starmer said he and Trump were “working together to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the Middle East.”

The leaders said their teams have been working to craft a “road map” to the end of the war in Gaza.

“Complex, but it’s going to get done. It’ll get done right,” Trump said.

Starmer said he and Trump were also “working together to end the killing in Ukraine,” and have discussed building up defensive capabilities and increasing pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“It’s only when the president has put pressure on Putin that he’s actually shown any inclination to move,” Starmer said. “So we have to run that pressure up.”

Trump said Putin had disappointed him by continuing the war in Ukraine: “He’s losing more people than he’s, you know, than he’s killing … He’s let me down.”

“I hope we’re going to have good news for you coming up,” Trump added.
