(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will sign a “tech prosperity deal” securing billions in investments for the United States and the United Kingdom, the pair announced during a business leaders’ reception Thursday.
“We’re taking the next logical step with a historic agreement on science and technology partnerships,” Trump said. “And this will create new government, academic and private sector cooperation in areas such as AI, which is taking over the world.”
Starmer said the deal will bring around 15,000 jobs to his country and boost investment in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and nuclear energy.

The agreement, which tops $200 billion, is expected to cement U.S. investment in Britain’s AI sector and deploy modular nuclear reactors across the U.K., which will generate energy for millions of homes and business, according to Trump.
Thursday’s deal is the biggest “of its kind in British history by a country mile,” Starmer said.
The two began bilateral talks at Chequers, Starmer’s country residence, on Thursday, marking the second day of Trump’s historic second state visit — a first for a U.S. president. He spent Wednesday at Windsor Castle with the reigning monarch, King Charles III, and his wife, Queen Camilla, for a day of pageantry.

CEOs from Apple, Nvidia, Blackstone and OpenAI were in attendance when Trump and Starmer announced the deal and were thanked by the leaders.
Many of those CEOs also attended a banquet Wednesday hosted by Charles and Camilla, where Trump and the monarch exchanged praises.
“This is truly one of the highest honors of my life,” Trump said. “Such respect for you, and such respect for your country. For many decades, his majesty the King has epitomized the fortitude, nobility and the spirit of the British monarchy and the British people.”

Ahead of Trump and Starmer’s Thursday talks, Charles urged the U.S. and the U.K. to stand together against Russian hostility.
“In two world wars, we’ve fought together to defeat the forces of tyranny,” he said. “Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe, we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine and to deter aggression and secure peace.”
Trump and Starmer are likely to discuss the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, though their views differ on Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip and the severity of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent moves targeting Ukraine.
