(NewsNation) — King Charles is set to host President Donald Trump during his second state visit to the U.K. this week.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump are expected to arrive at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, accompanied by military bands and riders on horseback.
In February, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hand-delivered an invitation from the king to Trump during a meeting at the White House, according to the Associated Press. Trump called the unprecedented second state visit a “great honor.”
Donald Trump’s first state visit
Trump’s first state visit occurred in 2019 at the invitation of the late Queen Elizabeth II. During his visit, Trump attended a meeting hosted by then Prime Minister Theresa May, which included British politicians as well as prominent Americans living in the U.K., the BBC reported at the time.
He and Melania also toured Westminster Abbey and met with then Prince Charles and Camilla for tea at Clarence House.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will greet the president and the first lady at Windsor Castle.
Trump had previously met Prince William as president-elect in December, saying, “He’s a good-looking guy,” the then-president-elect mused afterward. “Some people look better in person? He looked great.”
After Trump and Melania meet with the Prince and Princess of Wales, they will meet with Charles and Queen Camilla, where they will make their way through the estate while a royal salute is fired from the lawns.
The Trumps and the royals will lay a wreath at Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb in St. George’s Chapel after having lunch and viewing items from the royal collection. They will then attend a state banquet at the castle Wednesday evening, CNN reports.
Kate and Melania Trump’s joint appearance
Kate and Melania Trump will appear at Frogmore Gardens in Windsor on Thursday, joining the U.K.’s Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and members of the Scouts’ Squirrels program as the youth explore nature while earning their “Go Wild” badge, People magazine reports.
Melania will also join Camilla for a tour of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle, CNN reports.

Fields told People that Kate spent a lot of time outdoors amid her cancer fight.
“She would say, ‘During my recovery, I spent a lot of time in the outdoors because that’s where I felt at peace.’ Or ‘myself and the family come out to the Lakes as often as we can,’ he said.
The state visit will conclude Thursday after the president and British political leaders have a business meeting at the prime minister’s country home in Buckinghamshire.
