Michael Martin Albany: Building Success From the Ground Up

Michael Martin, better known locally as Mike Martin Albany, has spent his life building things—both with his hands and with his vision.

Born on May 1, 1971, in Massena, New York, Martin grew up surrounded by hardworking people. His father, Paul, and his mother, Betty, taught him the value of effort and discipline. From a young age, Mike was drawn to the trades.

“I was always curious about how things worked,” Mike shares. “Growing up in Massena, I spent a lot of time outside. Hockey, football, hunting—those activities shaped me. But I also loved watching how houses were built.”

From Small-Town Roots to Albany Opportunity

After high school, Mike attended Canton Tech, where he earned a two-year degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance. This education became the foundation for his future work.

“I knew I wanted to build things that would last,” he says. “That’s where my focus on electrical construction really started to grow.”

In 1998, Mike made a move that would change everything. He relocated to Albany, New York, looking for bigger opportunities in construction.

“Albany felt like a place where I could grow,” he says simply.

He began working with established companies like BBL Construction and Jackson Demolition. These early jobs allowed him to sharpen his skills and learn the ins and outs of the business.

“I paid close attention to everything—from how projects were managed to how customer relationships were handled,” Mike recalls. “It wasn’t just about swinging a hammer. It was about solving problems and making sure clients felt heard.”

Founding MRM Construction Services, LLC

After two decades of working for others, Mike took a leap. In 2019, he launched his own company: MRM Construction Services, LLC. The company’s focus is on residential remodeling and construction in the Albany area.

“It was always my dream to start something of my own,” Mike says. “I wanted to create a company that people in Albany could trust.”

MRM Construction Services quickly became known for its hands-on approach. Mike prides himself on being involved in every project.

“I don’t sit behind a desk all day,” he says with a grin. “I’m on-site. I’m working alongside my crew. That’s how you make sure the job gets done right.”

Building a Reputation Through Trust and Quality

What sets Mike apart isn’t just his skill—it’s his commitment to quality and relationships.

“We don’t just remodel houses,” Mike explains. “We work in people’s homes. That means respect, honesty, and clear communication.”

Clients appreciate his straightforward approach. He says the key is listening.

“Sometimes clients aren’t sure how to explain what they want,” Mike says. “It’s my job to ask the right questions and help them figure it out.”

This philosophy has made MRM Construction Services a go-to name in the Albany area.

Mike’s company doesn’t rely on flashy ads. Instead, much of its business comes from word of mouth and positive reviews on trusted sites like Angie’s List and Thumbtack.

“When someone calls me because their neighbor recommended me, that’s the best compliment,” Mike says.

Lessons From a Life of Hard Work

Mike’s journey from Massena to Albany has taught him many lessons. He says the most important ones have nothing to do with tools or blueprints.

“You’ve got to show up every day,” he says. “It’s not just about working hard once in a while. It’s about being consistent.”

He also credits his family for keeping him grounded. As a father to two daughters, Jessica and Miranda, Mike values his time outside of work just as much.

“My daughters are everything to me,” he says. “I love taking them snowmobiling or out on the boat. Those moments remind me why I work so hard.”

Advice for the Next Generation of Builders

Mike is clear about what it takes to succeed in construction today.

“Start by learning a trade,” he says firmly. “Go to school, get the technical skills, but don’t stop there. Learn how to communicate. Learn how to lead a team.”

He also stresses patience.

“Too many people want to rush,” Mike says. “But in construction, rushing leads to mistakes. Take your time and do it right.”

A Name Known Throughout Albany

Today, “Mike Martin Albany” has become a familiar name in local circles, especially for homeowners seeking reliable remodeling services.

Looking ahead, Mike says his goal is simple: keep building—both homes and trust.

“I don’t need to be the biggest company,” he says. “I just want to be the best at what we do.”

With his strong work ethic, decades of experience, and dedication to his community, Mike Martin Albany continues to stand out as a leader in his field—one project at a time.
