TJ Maxx to open new stores in 4 states, DC this August

(NEXSTAR) – T.J. Maxx will be opening six new stores across several states this August, according to the discount department store’s website.

The new sites will open in a year that has seen the shuttering of hundreds of chain store locations, including names such as Rite Aid, Monro, Kohl’s and Macy’s.

T.J. Maxx, known for its name-brand items at discounted prices, is owned by TJX, the parent company of Marshalls, HomeGoods and more. The department store’s products range from clothing and beauty products to items for the home and even holiday decorations.

“I am confident that the strength, flexibility, and resiliency of our off-price business model will serve us well in today’s macro environment, as it has throughout our long, successful history,” CEO Ernie Herrman said after encouraging sales numbers in May.

That same month, Herrman announced long-term plans to grow the TJX footprint by at least 1,300 stores.

Dickinson – Aug. 24 (446 18th Street West)

Utah

Saratoga Springs – Aug. 24 (1233 North Lake Drive, Suite E)

Tooele – Aug. 24 (945 North Main Street, Suite F)

Connecticut

Guilford – Aug. 21 (1919 Boston Post Rd.) This store is a move from the Clinton location at 215 East Main St.

Virginia

Glen Allen – Aug. 10 (9850 Brook Road)

T.J. Maxx isn’t the only chain to make headlines over the past several months by announcing expansion plans. Buc-ee’s, Trader Joe’s and IKEA are among the well-known companies that will be opening stores across the country.
