(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that he “appreciated” the Cuomo family for checking in on him following his assassination attempt in July.
“I do remember your call,” Trump told Cuomo during a NewsNation town hall. “I appreciate your call, and I actually appreciate your family. I’ve known your family for a long time. You know that.”

Cuomo said that when he first told viewers that he reached out to the president, he received some criticism.
“There was a lot of heat that came my way,” Cuomo said. “As if I shouldn’t have been making a comfort call to Donald Trump.”
