Scott Galloway: Trump tariffs have led to ‘toxic uncertainty’

(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump won over a majority of young men in the last election, but New York University professor Scott Galloway doesn’t think a trade war aimed at reshoring manufacturing jobs will help them.

That’s because Trump’s tariffs have led to “toxic uncertainty,” which means brands and companies are less willing to invest in the U.S., Galloway said.

“Do you think they’re hiring a lot of young people right now?” Galloway asked NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday.

The NYU marketing professor pointed to polling that shows most Americans support bringing back manufacturing jobs, but far less actually want to do them.

“We have purposely outsourced these low-wage, dirty manufacturing jobs for high-end marketing, strategy, service jobs that just pay more,” Galloway said.

Instead, he thinks Trump should focus on making sure wages keep pace with productivity gains.

“If he was serious about young men, raise minimum wage to $25 an hour,” Galloway said.
