(ValleyCentral) — With the U.S. TikTok ban having an unknown status, users are on the hunt for a new app to log into.
TikTok has become a worldwide phenomenon, welcoming communities, and connecting them in real-time. However, the United States Congress has expressed concern about user-data privacy and is currently in the process of banning the app in the U.S.
This new generation of tech users found a Chinese social media app they call RedNote, also known as Xiahongshu, as their “new TikTok,” to connect with others, learn Mandarin, and have a Pinterest-like aesthetic.
What happens if TikTok is banned? Will app and data disappear?
Many former TikTok users who have moved on to this new era of social media have expressed how advanced Rednote is and how “cute the emojis are.”
As of Monday evening, Xiahongshu is the number one app on the U.S. Apple App Store and number three in the Google Play Store.
The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on Friday, Jan. 17 whether or not to overturn or delay the law that could lead to a ban on TikTok.
The TikTok ban is taking effect on Jan. 19, according to CBS News.
