DALLAS (NewsNation) — Dallas-Fort Worth malls are encouraging holiday shoppers to stay home and let drones deliver their packages.
Wing Aviation and Doordash have partnered with several malls to allow consumers to shop online and have their purchases delivered by drone.
This launch comes as drones have been spotted on the East Coast, raising concerns.
Holiday goods dropping from the skies
When shoppers order through the Doordash app, they can select drone delivery from over 50 stores. Once an order is placed, a service robotics robot grabs the items and takes them to a nearby Wing Aviation drone.
The drone then flies up to 150 feet and delivers the package to the doorstep in under 15 minutes.
FAA overseeing regulatory process
The Federal Aviation Administration has been key in overseeing the regulatory process.
With more than 400,000 deliveries worldwide, including in Australia and Ireland, Wing Aviations’s proven track record is pushing drone delivery forward in the U.S.
While many embrace the convenience, others remain skeptical or enjoy the chaos of last-minute holiday shopping.
