(NewsNation) — A face-to-face meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump has been set for Wednesday evening.
The two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting at 10 p.m. EDT, according to Trump’s official White House schedule. It will be mid-morning in South Korea, where the pair are attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
Trump on Wednesday said he expected the meeting to last three to four hours.

The confirmation comes after days of optimistic remarks from Trump about the chance to speak with Xi.
The leaders are expected to discuss familiar topics, including tariffs, trade and TikTok.
Other topics include convincing China to resume purchasing American soybeans and an agreement on rare-earth minerals, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Earlier this week, Bessent said a framework deal had been agreed upon, allowing Beijing to avoid a 100% tariff that was threatened to take effect on Nov. 1.
“I believe we’ve reached a very substantial framework that will avoid that and allow us to discuss many other things with the Chinese,” Bessent said.
