(NewsNation) — Seven weeks after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA is continuing its tour of college campuses with some important political figures.
Vice President JD Vance was announced as a speaker at the “This Is the Turning Point Tour” event at Ole Miss on Wednesday alongside Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who is the organization’s new leader.

The new tour replaces the “American Comeback Tour” as TPUSA’s college speaking program after Kirk was shot and killed at the first stop in September.
Thousands of students were lined up outside the campus building where the event is being held, with one student telling NewsNation he and his friends had been standing outside since 11 a.m. A student from another school drove all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, just to attend.
“I am actually stoked about it,” Marianna Fulks told NewsNation. “This is the first event we’ve really had where students get to ask officials questions, especially the vice president of the United States.”
