(NEXSTAR) — In a year of closures that have impacted retailers and restaurants alike, it’s been rare to hear of businesses opening new locations. Nonetheless, a popular off-price retailer is doing just that over the next few weeks.
Through September and October, Burlington said it was on track to open dozens of new stores across 26 states. Burlington already has more than 1,100 stores in the U.S., covering nearly every state. The discount retailer announced plans in 2020 to open 2,000 stores long-term.
Stores that have already opened this month include locations in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas. Others that were scheduled to open before the end of October will now open in November, according to Burlington’s website.

Burlington lists job openings for these stores online.
While these are new stores to Burlington, the spaces they’re taking over had former lives. Several — including a newly announced Nashville location — formerly housed Big Lots stores, which all shuttered after the company filed for bankruptcy last year. (Some have since reopened under new ownership.)
