(NewsNation) — There’s a new king of American convenience.
Midwest chain Kwik Trip has claimed the top spot in the 2025 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) rankings of U.S. convenience stores, edging out regional favorites like Wawa and Sheetz.
The Wisconsin-based company’s “food-focused” model and commitment to “building a positive culture” struck a chord with customers, helping it rise to No. 1 on this year’s list, the report said.

Pennsylvania rivals Wawa and Sheetz tied for second place, followed by QuickTrip and Buc-ee’s.

“The brands rising to the top are doing more than just selling coffee and snacks. They’re building communities inside their stores,” Forrest Morgeson, ACSI’s director of research emeritus and an associate professor of marketing at Michigan State University.
This year’s findings are based on more than 8,600 customer surveys rating food quality, cleanliness, staff courtesy, mobile-app experience and other factors.
Why do gas prices always have an extra 9/10 of a cent added on?
Kwik Trip, which has over 850 stores across the Midwest, earned an industry-leading score of 84 on the ACSI’s 0-100 scale — just ahead of last year’s leader Wawa (82), which tied Sheetz (82) this time around.
Still, regional loyalty runs deep.
Wawa and Sheetz shared the top spot in the Northeast, while Kwik Trip bested QuickTrip (not related) in the Midwest. In the South, Wawa (82) narrowly edged Buc-ee’s (81) and Sheetz (81) by a single point. Out West, 7-Eleven topped Chevron with 76 points.
At the other end of the rankings, ampm finished last with 73 points, while Casey’s General Stores saw the biggest year-over-year satisfaction decline, down 5% amid what the ACSI described as a “significant expansion campaign.”
The survey found that mobile apps and loyalty rewards have become key drivers for convenience stores. Nearly two-thirds of rewards members (64%) said they visit their stores at least weekly, compared with 45% of nonmembers.
About a third of respondents (34%) said they have used the store’s mobile app — a figure that jumps to 60% among loyalty members.
Overall satisfaction across the convenience store industry held steady at 76 points for the second straight year. Customers were chosen at random and contacted via email between October 2024 and September 2025. The full list included 24 major convenience store chains.
