(NewsNation) — An alternative to the flu shot is now available, and it can be delivered to your door.
AstraZeneca announced Friday the introduction of an at-home delivery option for FluMist, a nasal spray flu vaccine, which was previously only available from doctors or pharmacies.
However, the at-home option, known as FluMist Home, has a weaker form of a live virus than the original iteration, according to NBC News.
Pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems are advised to discuss the treatment with their doctor before use.

According to the FDA, FluMist is approved for people aged 2 through 49.
The self-care iteration of FluMist was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on Sept. 20, 2024. It is accessible via a medical questionnaire, according to AstraZeneca.
In addition, basic personal information, medical details, insurance information and a payment method are needed.
