(KTLA) — For the first time in two decades, Taco Bell is adding a new flavor to its Mountain Dew Baja Blast lineup. It’s called Baja Midnight.

The drink, which combines passion fruit flavor with the tropical lime taste of the original Baja Blast, will debut Aug. 14 as a permanent menu item.

“Our fans made it iconic, and they’re the reason we’re expanding the universe for the first time with Mtn Dew Baja Midnight,” said Taylor Montgomery, Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer. “It’s unexpected, it’s Taco Bell purple, and it’s tasty enough to earn its place in the fandom.”

Baja Midnight will be available in two formats, both designed to pair with Taco Bell’s menu:

Mountain Dew Baja Midnight ($2.49 small / $2.79 medium / $2.99 large): The first-ever twist on the cult favorite flavor, blending passion fruit with the signature tropical lime taste.

Mountain Dew Baja Midnight Freeze ($3.79 regular / $3.99 large): A frozen version of the new flavor for fans who prefer an icy treat.

The company says Taco Bell Rewards members can score a free medium Baja Midnight on Aug. 15 with a $5 purchase in the Taco Bell app.
