(NewsNation) — White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday addressed media speculation about recent images of President Donald Trump, which showed bruising on his hands and swelling in his lower legs.

The president “underwent a comprehensive medical examination,” said Leavitt.

She clarified there was “no evidence of deep vein thrombosis” or heart failure.

However, the exam found that Trump, 79, has chronic venous insufficiency. The condition happens when an individual’s leg veins struggle to pump blood back to the heart, increasing pressure in your leg veins and cause symptoms like swelling according to The Cleveland Clinic.
