(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump is holding a Cabinet meeting Tuesday amid more tariff uncertainty and catastrophic flooding in Texas.
The meeting also comes after the passage of Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The president has touted the legislation, which critics have attacked for giving the wealthy the biggest share of tax cuts and slashing social services while also adding a projected $3.3 trillion to the national debt over 10 years.
On Monday, Trump sent tariff letters to several countries, informing them of new tariff rates. The president also extended the deadline for countries to negotiate more favorable deals, moving the original July 9 deadline to August 1.

The country is also facing catastrophic flooding in Texas, where more than 100 people have died. Trump has pledged to help the state, but the disaster has put new focus on his cuts to the National Weather Service and plans to phase out the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu is also in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, following a Monday meeting with Trump where the two celebrated a victory over Iran following controversial U.S. strikes on the country’s nuclear facilities.
