Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is giving remarks Wednesday afternoon after the nation’s central bank revealed it would once again keep interest rates steady, despite pressure from President Trump to make cuts.

The looming decision marks six months without a rate adjustment, as uncertainty continues to swirl around the president’s trade agenda and amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Trump earlier in the day ramped up his criticism of Powell, suggesting to reporters that he could appoint himself to lead the bank instead.

“Am I allowed to appointment myself at the Fed?” he said. “I’d do a much better job than these people.”

The news conference is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
