Education Secretary Linda McMahon will face questions from the House Education and Workforce Committee on Wednesday morning about the Education Department’s priorities amid President Trump’s efforts to shutter it.
McMahon, who testified recently before the House and Senate on the administration’s fiscal 2026 budget, has openly supported Trump’s plan to dismantle her department. Earlier this year, she announced mass layoffs, which sparked intense backlash and some legal action.
The full closure of the department will require congressional approval.
Wednesday’s event is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. EDT.
