(NewsNation) — JCPenney announced on Tuesday it will be closing seven stores across the U.S. this weekend, a report said.
The latest closures are occurring after more than 200 U.S. locations shuttered after the department store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2020.
The seven locations set to close:
San Bruno, California – The Shops at Tanforan
Denver, Colorado – The Shops at Northfield
Pocatello, Idaho – Pine Ridge Mall
Topeka, Kansas – West Ridge Mall
Newington, New Hampshire – Fox Run Mall
Asheville, North Carolina – Asheville Mall
Charleston, West Virginia – Charleston Town Center

The reason for the closures was not immediately made available, but JCPenney cited that individual store closures may occur due to expiring lease agreements, market changes or other factors
Back in January, JCPenney announced it had partnered with Forever 21 to create a new company called “Catalyst Brands.”
