(NewsNation) — President Trump, marking the first 100 days of his second term this week, was scheduled to give a commencement address at the University of Alabama on Thursday evening.

The president’s message to the Class of 2025 was expected around 7 p.m. local time. The event at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa will also feature remarks from UA President Stuart R. Bell and Nick Saban, former Crimson Tide football coach, the university said.

Trump’s visit to the University of Alabama drew hundreds of protesters to an off-campus rally. One-time presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke of Texas and former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones, the last Democrat to hold statewide office in Alabama, were slated to address the rally, called a “Tide Against Trump” — a play on the university’s nickname.
