White House launches Drudge Report lookalike site

(The Hill) — The White House has launched a new website to promote President Donald Trump’s agenda, a page that looks similar to the popular Drudge Report, which has served as a must-read for conservative media members and political operatives for years.

The “White House Wire” site, which uses a .gov URL, on Thursday morning linked to a number of social media posts and articles from conservative outlets with headlines supportive of Trump and his policies.

Where do the DOGE stimulus checks stand?

The lead headline Thursday morning directed visitors to a social media video from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announcing the U.S. had struck a deal with Ukraine on rare earth minerals.

Many observers pointed out that the website’s display, which uses large bold text on a black background, looks similar to Matt Drudge’s aggregation and tabloid website.

Once a strong supporter of the president, Drudge’s coverage of the president has soured in recent years.

I’m considering a $1 trillion lawsuit!” the blogger joked Wednesday to Axios, which was first to report the site’s launch.

On Thursday, the lead headline on the Drudge Report read: “TRUMP LAUNCHING HIS OWN DRUDGE REPORT WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS.”
