(NewsNation) — WWE Hall of Famer Kane — also known as Glenn Jacobs, mayor of Knox County, Tennessee — has challenged Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to a charity wrestling match.

Jacobs appeared on “On Balance” on Friday to issue the challenge after Walz, a former Democratic vice presidential candidate, told California Gov. Gavin Newsom on a podcast that he could “kick most of their a–” referring to supporters of President Donald Trump.

“I have actually no intention of having an MMA match with Tim Walz, but I figured that we could have some fun and raise some money for charity,” Jacobs told “Morning in America” on Monday.

“But more importantly, Gov. Walz could put his money where his mouth is,” he added.

Jacobs offered to split proceeds from the match between charities of their choosing. He also proposed options to make the fight more fair, such as wearing a blindfold or participating in a handicap match.

Fun and charity aside, Jacobs said Walz’s comments were “inappropriate” and that he believes the incident speaks to a broader concern plaguing the Democratic Party.

“The Democrat Party has a real issue on their hands when it comes to masculinity, and now they’re trying to figure that out. And instead of just being themselves and being authentic people, they’re trying to act like tough guys, and you can see right through it,” Jacobs said.

He said if Walz truly believed those comments, “you have to be able to back them up.”
