(NewsNation) — President Trump’s campaign pledge to lower consumers’ energy costs by 50% within a year is still doable, his Energy secretary says.
“We’re nowhere near 12 months in. He may be spot on. We have no reason to believe he’s not,” Chris Wright told “CUOMO” on Thursday.
Trump creates council for ‘energy dominance,’ boosts natural gas exports and offshore drilling
Wright said the marketplace has responded positively as the Trump administration removes barriers the Biden administration put in place that inhibited the production of oil and natural gas.
“Everything the Biden administration did, on the margin, drove energy prices up. Everything the Trump administration is doing is going to drive energy prices down,” he said.
