Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, fired back at Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., after he criticized as “bizarre” a widely circulated “choose-your-fighter” TikTok video featuring several Democratic lawmakers, including Crockett.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Crockett noted that Fetterman often goes onto the floor of the chamber wearing a sweatshirt.

“He’s not the one to talk about anything,” Crockett said. “I mean, this is a guy that doesn’t seemingly want to own a suit, own a suit, I’m not really sure. But I don’t show up in hoodies when I’m going on the floor.”

Crockett defended the video, saying an influencer asked the six Democrats to participate and she did not have much information about the trend beforehand, but she stressed it’s important for the public to see lawmakers laughing.

“I think that it is important that people see that we’re real people, and even if that means that there’s a moment to laugh, that’s okay, especially since it seems like we’re doing more crying than anything.

“But just know that we were not on the House floor jumping around at all, whereas Senator Fetterman is consistently walking around the Senate chamber, and he is walking around in such a way that they literally had to change the rules in the Senate so that he could walk around that way,” she said, noting the dress code change in the Senate.

“So I just don’t think that he’s necessarily the one to actually have an opinion about this,” she added.
