Vornado space heaters recalled for potential shock and fire hazards

(WJW) – Thousands of Vornado space heaters sold on Amazon have been recalled for possible electric shock and fire hazards, the company said.

The issue with the recalled units, marketed as V2 Whole Room Heaters, stems from power cords that may become partially detached from the heater enclosure, according to a recall notice the company posted online.

If that occurs, it “can lead to cord damage over time, posing electric shock and fire hazards,” the notice says.

Consumers can identify the recalled units by one of two date codes — “JUL24” or “AUG24″ — printed on a label located on the underside of the heater. Only units with these codes are affected by the recall. The label will also bear the words “TYPE VH2.”

About 7,780 units are affected by this recall, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision said. All of the units were sold exclusively on Amazon.

To date, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries due to the recalled heaters.

Customers who purchased an affected V2 Whole Room Heater from Amazon.com are urged to discontinue use and contact Vornado for a refund.
