A national theater chain is offering a one-day deal that will almost certainly lead to hijinks from moviegoers later this month.

Cinemark has announced its first-ever “Bring Your Own Bucket” promotion as part of National Popcorn Day on Jan. 19.

Customers can bring in a clean container of their choice and fill it with fresh popcorn for just $5, no movie ticket necessary.

Another way to commemorate the unofficial holiday, and to remember what has the potential for be a legendary day in snacking history, Cinemark will be offering $5 XL popcorn buckets at all theater locations throughout the day. Movie-themed buckets are also available for purchase on the Cinemark website.

“National Popcorn Day is one of the best days of the year at Cinemark, and for popcorn lovers everywhere,” said David Haywood, Cinemark’s senior vice president of food and beverage. “We are thrilled to mark this year’s celebration with our first ever ‘Bring Your Own Bucket’ event, in addition to limited time sweepstakes and promotions.”

The theater chain will be running an additional sweepstakes on its Instagram account, allowing moviegoers the chance to earn free popcorn by tagging their friends in the comments. All online gift card purchases will also include a 10% discount during the event.

National Popcorn Day will fall on a Sunday, the weekend after the release of the much-anticipated Julia Garner-led “Wolf Man” remake of the horror classic, as well as the buddy comedy “One of them Days,” starring Keke Palmer and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter SZA, in her acting debut.
