(NEXSTAR) — There are a few menu items that McDonald’s fans will patiently await between their occasional returns, such as the McRib and the Holiday Pie. But there is one item that some may argue is long overdue for a reappearance at the Golden Arches: the Snack Wrap.
Snack Wraps — variations of which can still be found internationally — contained chicken, lettuce, and cheese all wrapped in a warm tortilla. They launched in 2006 and were later followed by an Angus offering. The latter was dropped in 2013 as McDonald’s made menu changes, while the original Snack Wrap was removed in 2016 over complaints that it took too long to make.
Some individual franchises held onto the Snack Wraps, but in 2020, the offerings were removed from all U.S. McDonald’s restaurants. In the years since, there have been petitions, social media campaigns, and even failed attempts to use celebrity endorsements of the Snack Wraps as leverage to bring them back.

The item’s absence, however, seems to be coming to an end.
“The Snack Wrap will be back in 2025,” Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s, told “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos on Thursday. “This has a cult following, I get so many emails into my inbox about this product. It will be back in 2025.”

Unfortunately, Erlinger would not share any additional details, like when exactly the beloved menu option will return, citing “competitive reasons.”
McDonald’s did tease a new iteration of the Snack Wraps exactly two years ago upon announcing that it would expand its chicken meals to meet consumers’ demands. That included expanding the McCrispy “to nearly all markets across the world by the end of 2025 and expand McCrispy into wraps and tenders.”
In recent years, most national fast-food chains have expanded into the so-called “chicken sandwich wars.” Following the successful launch of a chicken sandwich by Popeyes in 2019, competitors like McDonald’s KFC, Wendy’s, Burger King, Chili’s, and even Taco Bell spent much of the pandemic years unveiling new chicken offerings.
Unfortunately for McDonald’s, that included Snack Wrap copy-cats by KFC, Burger King, and Wendy’s.
Nexstar reached out to McDonald’s for additional information on the return of the Snack Wrap but did not immediately receive a response.
