Yelp turns off comments on the McDonald’s that Trump worked at after fake reviews

(The Hill) — Yelp recently paused reviews on a McDonald’s in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, after former President Trump served pre-screened customers at the location Sunday.

“This business recently received increased public attention, which often means people come to this page to post their views on the news,” Yelp’s announcement on the site read. “While we don’t take a stand one way or the other when it comes to this incident, we’ve temporarily disabled the posting of content to this page as we work to investigate whether the content you see here reflects actual consumer experiences rather than the recent events.”

They encouraged consumers interested in leaving a review to check back at a later date.

“Went to this McDonalds to try the new chicken big Mac and was stunned to see a convicted felon operating the drive through. Your company hires felons? Also closing the store for the day to perform this political theater is crazy to me. I won’t be patronizing a McDonald’s ever again. Food tastes like sh– anyway,” one person wrote.

“This business is being review bombed, over politics, by a bunch of hateful fools that have never been to the restaurant,” another Yelp review read after Trump’s visit.

On Sunday, Trump worked the fry cooker and handed an order to a customer at the drive thru. The former president stopped at the fast-food chain before a town hall in Lancaster, Pa., later that day.

The Republican nominee’s visit earned attention from thousands in an effort to push back on Vice President Harris’s claims that she was a staffer at a local franchise while studying at Howard University. It also drew criticism from the Harris campaign and its allies.

Fourteen days out from the election, Harris maintains a .9 percent lead nationally over the former president according to Decision Desk HQ/The Hill’s polls.
