(NewsNation) — FBI director Kash Patel used a government jet to travel to see his girlfriend perform at a wrestling event last week, according to multiple reports.

Patel appeared alongside his partner Alexis Wilkins at the Real American Freestyle event at Penn State University. Wilkins, a country singer, posted pictures of herself and Patel at the event.

Flight records said the government plane, registered to the Department of Justice, departed from Manassas Regional Airport in Virginia to State College Regional Airport. Nearly two and a half hours later, the aircraft departed from State College for Nashville, where Wilkins lives.

As FBI Director, Patel is required to use a government aircraft for travel so he can have access to secure communications equipment. It is also mandatory for directors to reimburse the government for using the plane for personal reasons at the price of a commercial ticket.

Besides facing backlash about the use of government aircraft for personal reasons, Patel also received negative attention earlier this year after gifting New Zealand officials with inoperable 3D-printed pistols that were illegal to possess under local gun laws.
